(JACKSON, Miss.) – Jackson State University officially welcomed more than 1,300 freshmen and transfer students during its Fall 2025 move-in day on Saturday, August 9. This year’s theme, “Experience Thee Magic of JSU,” captured the excitement of a new academic journey for the incoming class.
Students and families began the day at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center, where the university hosted its One Stop Shop. This convenient setup gave new Tigers immediate access to admissions, housing, financial aid, business services, and academic advising.
🚀 New Programs, New Opportunities
University leaders shared their enthusiasm for welcoming the newest Tigers, pointing to JSU’s continued growth and the launch of innovative programs such as artificial intelligence and mechanical engineering. These additions highlight JSU’s commitment to preparing students for careers in high-demand fields.
Behind the scenes, weeks of planning ensured a smooth and welcoming experience. Campus departments worked together to create a seamless process that allowed students to focus on settling into their new home away from home.
Volunteers and service ambassadors played an important role in move-in day. Positioned across campus, they provided directions, carried items, and answered questions, helping ease the transition for both students and families. Their presence reflected the supportive community JSU is known for.
🏠 A New Home Away from Home
As residence halls filled with activity, students began forming friendships, meeting their neighbors, and discovering the unique Tiger spirit that defines the university. For many, move-in day marked the beginning of lifelong connections and new opportunities.
The celebration extended beyond move-in. Welcome Week 2025 ran from August 10–16, offering a variety of events designed to help new Tigers adjust, get involved, and embrace campus life. The week concluded with The Merge, a signature tradition that unites the campus community.
🐅 The Journey Begins
With energy, pride, and a strong sense of belonging, JSU’s newest students are ready to experience the magic of college life. Their journey to graduation has begun, and Jackson State stands ready to support them every step of the way.
